Rachel Bishop

Rachel joined Moorcroft in 1993 aged 24 as only the fourth Moorcroft designer in 100 years. A true disciple of William Morris, and a designer whose work is collected world-wide, Rachel can produce work of unsurpassed brilliance. Her designs already command premium prices in the major salesrooms of the world. Rachel is exceptionally adept at designing limited editions. The popular range Fly Away Home, with its agapanthus and ladybirds is featured in Moorcroft's catalogue for another year, appealing to collectors of floral designs. Born to the job is how Rachel sees herself. Most would agree.

2011 sees the arrival of a new numbered edition by Rachel. Wearing the mantle of William Moorcroft, Florian Flame is a structured design of great simplicity. Small shaded red flowers are set in two florian-style panels, one the shape of a fire in a grate, and the other a stylised flame. Each red flower is offset by fine green leaves set against a smoke-grey ground. The background colour is an extremely dark green which, at first glance, looks almost black. This is a gentle return to the annual giftware catalogue by a great Moorcroft designer, Rachel Bishop.
